Michelle Mateus, MS, LPC

Michelle A. Mateus holds a Master of Science degree in Counseling and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Texas A&M University in Commerce. She is bilingual and currently a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC) with a specialization in working with children, adolescents, young adults and families.

Michelle is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and uses strength-based approaches. She has a Level 2 Certification in Sand Tray Therapy and utilizes play therapeutic interventions with children. Her experience includes treating adolescents with eating disorders in a residential setting, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient levels of care, incorporating Psychodrama in group therapy and crisis intervention. She is also skilled in servicing the needs of those suffering with anxiety, depression, dysfunctional family relationships and other life stressors.

Michelle is on a mission to reduce the stigma of mental health and assist clients in discovering the many benefits of therapy. She makes sure to tailor each therapeutic experience to meet everyone’s unique needs. She has also worked as an Adjunct Professor teaching Psychology to help develop and mentor future therapists.
