Britany Myers, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), holds a master’s degree in Social Work from Texas A&M University in Commerce and a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Texas Woman’s University. She specializes in working with youth and adults experiencing trauma, depression, anxiety and symptoms impacting daily living or relationships. Britany also works with issues surrounding the GLBTQIA community. She is trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), SYMBIS Premarital Assessment and as a trauma-focused counselor. She is a bilingual English and American Sign Language (ASL) clinician. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
In 2002, Britany helped develop the Safe Church curriculum, (now known as Safeguarding God’s Children) and provided community presentations related to child welfare for the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas. While working for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS), Britany co-developed a training with former foster youth and TDFPS employees they titled, “Discussing a Taboo,” that focused on the special needs and the disproportionality of GLBTQIA youth in the child welfare system. Additionally, Britany has worked for a local domestic violence shelter, where she empowered clients through individual sessions, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) resiliency groups and created a Child Protective Services group, called CPS101, to give survivors information on the abilities and limits of TDFPS, regardless of the family’s current status them.
Britany currently provides services to students in Special Education at North Texas School district and is developing an after-school program for at-risk youth in 6th to 12th grades. Britany also serves as the director of community relations and education for a crisis management consulting firm that assists families in keeping their children safe.
